Guru Purnima Celebration – Pre-Primary

On Thursday, 10 July 2025, the Pre-Primary department of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, New Delhi, celebrated Guru Purnima with devotion and joy. This sacred occasion honours the Guru, the one who removes ignorance and leads the seeker towards knowledge. As Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda said, “The Guru is the one who removes the darkness of ignorance and leads us to the light of knowledge.”

The celebration began with a special audio-visual presentation that introduced the young learners to the life and teachings of Pujya Gurudev. His gentle humour, compassionate presence and timeless wisdom made a lasting impact. The children were captivated by how he conveyed deep truths through simple, relatable stories.

Following this, classrooms became cheerful performance spaces where puppet shows brought spiritual stories to life. Through engaging characters and thoughtful storytelling, the children explored values such as kindness, honesty and courage. These performances were designed to entertain while also imparting important lessons in an age-appropriate way.

As the programme continued, the sound of bhajans and prayers filled the air. The children sang together with sincerity, creating a heartfelt atmosphere of devotion and unity. Their enthusiasm reflected their growing connection to the values being celebrated.

The day concluded with a quiet moment of prayer before the image of Pujya Gurudev. With hands joined, eyes shining and hearts full of reverence, the children offered their gratitude. They left inspired by his teachings and carried with them the true spirit of Guru Purnima — a celebration of knowledge, love and respect for the Guru.

The event was a meaningful experience for all involved, planting the seeds of devotion and understanding in every young mind.
