The Magic of Storytime in Circle Time
On 9 July 2025, the pre-primary students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, New Delhi, took part in a delightful Circle Time session titled "The Magic of Storytime."
The session created a warm and engaging atmosphere as children gathered in a circle to enjoy the wonder of storytelling. It was more than just reading aloud. It was an invitation to imagine, to dream, and to explore new ideas through stories. As each page turned, young minds travelled to faraway lands, soared with dragons, explored the ocean floor, and wandered through enchanted forests, all within the comfort of their classroom.
This storytelling session supported early development in multiple ways. Emotionally, it helped children recognise feelings and relate to different characters. Intellectually, it encouraged curiosity and offered insights into values, friendships, and daily life. The flow of language and the use of vivid illustrations helped build vocabulary and improve listening skills.
Whether the story was funny or meaningful, each one left an impact. These tales helped shape not only the children’s understanding of language, but also their awareness of kindness, courage, and empathy. The session sparked questions, encouraged conversations, and filled the room with laughter and excitement.
Storytime in Circle Time reminded everyone present that storytelling is a powerful tool in early education. It connects children to each other and to the world around them, one story at a time.
