World Dance Day Celebration
On 29th April 2025, the Primary Department of Chinmaya Vidyalaya presented a vibrant assembly in celebration of World Dance Day. The event showcased a diverse range of dance forms, including Irish folk dance, Chau folk dance of Bengal and Odisha, and Brazil's freehand and Zumba styles. The enthusiastic participation of teachers added to the energy, turning the assembly into a joyous celebration of rhythm, culture, and unity.
The celebration also included a 45-minute interactive dance workshop for Class VI students, conducted by renowned Chhau artist Mr. Sumit Mandal. During the workshop, students were introduced to the basics of Mayurbhanj Chhau, where they learned to link dance movements to everyday chores like sweeping and grinding. This engaging approach made learning fun, allowing students to explore storytelling while developing their coordination and rhythm.
The World Dance Day celebration beautifully reflected Chinmaya Vidyalaya's commitment to holistic education and its encouragement of artistic expression among learners. The event highlighted the importance of dance as a means of cultural expression and its role in fostering creativity, discipline, and teamwork among students.
