Janmashtami Celebration

On Thursday, 14 August 2025, the Pre-Primary learners of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, New Delhi, celebrated Janmashtami with devotion, joy and festive cheer. The theme of the day echoed the timeless words of the Bhagavad Gita: “Whenever there is a decline in righteousness, I manifest Myself.”

The campus was alive with colour and celebration as the youngest children arrived dressed as little Krishnas and Radhas. Their bright attire, adorned with flutes, peacock feathers and sparkling mukuts, filled the school with innocence and charm. Classrooms and corridors were beautifully decorated with matkis, flutes and flowers, while a lovingly prepared Krishna jhanki formed the heart of the celebration. Children offered prayers and gently rocked Baby Krishna on the jhoola, experiencing a moment of devotion in the midst of festivity. Sweet mishri prasad was distributed, adding to the delight of the day.

The highlight of the programme was a storytelling and song presentation narrating the divine birth of Lord Krishna. The children listened with fascination and joined in with Krishna bhajans, swaying and dancing with radiant smiles. Their joy and enthusiasm brought the spirit of Janmashtami to life in a way that was both touching and memorable.

The celebration was a blend of devotion, festivity and cultural learning. It not only created cherished memories for the young learners but also nurtured in them a deeper connection to their spiritual and cultural roots.
