Workshop on Touching Lives

On 23 August 2025, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, New Delhi, hosted a heartwarming and insightful workshop on Touching Lives, conducted by Smt Shanti Krishnamurti, Director, CCMT. The session gave teachers an opportunity to reflect on their role as educators, guided by the vision of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda.

Shanti Ma’am spoke with warmth and clarity about Pujya Gurudev’s idea of a Chinmaya teacher. She explained that the true measure of success in teaching is not found in marks or grades, but in the ability to love children and transform lives through care, compassion and a smile.

The workshop also traced the 44-year legacy of Chinmaya Mission initiatives, such as Bal Vihar, Shishu Vihar, Vanaprastha, Devi Groups, schools, colleges and healthcare centres. Each of these, she noted, reflects Pujya Gurudev’s vision of value-based transformation and service to society.

Teachers, she reminded the audience, must also be sādhakas, committed to discipline, inner growth and self-reflection. A true teacher, she observed, teaches with love, lives the values they wish to share, looks beyond academics, and blends ancient wisdom with modern knowledge.

She urged teachers to prepare students not only for careers but for life. This involves the ability to learn, unlearn and relearn, ensuring that teaching remains meaningful, relevant and impactful.

The session concluded on an inspiring note. Teachers were left with the realisation that their work extends far beyond classrooms and textbooks. True teaching lies in transforming lives with love, values and continuous self-growth.
